FCL - LCL

When your goods are distributed via sea freight, you can choose between FCL (full container load) and LCL (less than container load). This terminology is often used in logistics and is associated with the number of parties distributing their goods in one sea container. In this respect, FCL means that goods are shipped by one ordering party into one sea container. The container does not necessarily need to be entirely filled, but can also be partially filled. The essence of FCL is that the ordering party needs to book a full container to ship and move his goods in one container from A to B. LCL is a term describing that the goods of different shippers are consolidated in one container. This can result in significant cost savings.
